Microsoft is prepared to bring a cheap and a simplified upgrade process. The company has kept the same price and the same version for upgrading Windows XP, Vista and 7. A digital download of Windows 8 Pro upgrade has been priced at $39.99. It’s something like five times cheaper than the retail price of the Windows 7 Professional upgrade.

Microsoft’s another surprise is a System Builder Kit used for making PC. The kit provides the same feature set as a retail version, but it is offered for a low price by the retail media.  Amazon and eBay are selling OEM versions which are sold at low price.

Microsoft has not officially announced anything, but it’s expected that the operating system will be priced similar to generation OEM versions, which are sold between 50% and 75% cheaper than retail versions. Selling low-priced versions of Microsoft Windows 8 Pro –the flagship consumer version of the operating system mean that the company is interested in promoting the upcoming operating system.

The company is expecting to introduce two versions of Windows 8 for retail channels.  The two versions are Windows 8 and Windows 8 Pro. The Pro version will be more expensive than the standard version.
