Skitch Launches Windows 8 Metro App

Skitch is not available on Windows Phone yet, despite Evernote being present in the Marketplace for some time. But if you’re a Skitch fan, here’s some good news for you- since Skitch has been released for the Windows 8 Metro platform, a Windows Phone app may be released soon.
If you’re using the Windows 8 Consumer Preview, just go to the Store and download the Skitch app. The Metro app has been engineered specifically for the Metro UI, with a toolbar at the bottom that gives you access to core Skitch functions.
To start off, just open a pre- existing photo on your PC or take a photo from your camera. At the extreme right part of the toolbar is the Evernote elephant icon. Once you click it and enter your login credentials, your creations will be saved directly to your own Evernote cloud storage account. At the moment, you can’t open files from Evernote but if you already have the app installed, you can easily open the local copy in Skitch and all changes will be synced automatically.
You will have all the usual Skitch tools at your disposal- shapes (line, circle, rectangle and rounded rectangle), marker, text and even the most important- arrow. You will have access to 4 line widths and 8 colors, and the elements can easily be modified and even moved around once they are put on canvas.
Overall, the Skitch Metro app for Windows 8 gives pretty good and stable performance and is a very useful addition to your personal Start Screen.  Since a separate version for bigger Metro displays has been released that is pretty decent, a scaled-down version of Skitch for Windows Phone is likely to be launched soon.
